Alteia Fund Management and Haycen collaborate on digital capital and settlement infrastructure for global trade

Alteia Fund Management Ltd, a fund manager and non-bank lender focusing on global trade flows and regulated in Mauritius, and Haycen, an institutional digital-capital and settlement network for global trade regulated in Bermuda, are pleased to announce a new commercial collaboration focused on preparing Alteia to access emerging forms of digital capital and settlement infrastructure for trade finance and working capital markets.

Under the collaboration, Alteia will work with Haycen to become stablecoin-enabled, establishing the operational and technical capabilities that would enable digitally denominated liquidity to be received, deployed and settled through Haycen’s infrastructure as these markets develop. The work will explore how Haycen’s institutional digital-capital infrastructure can complement Alteia’s existing financing activities and traditional sources of capital.

The collaboration is intended to provide Alteia with an additional route through which digitally native capital may ultimately access its trade-finance strategies, while establishing the infrastructure required to support the movement and recycling of capital across short-duration trade cycles.

“Trade finance has always depended on the efficient movement of capital alongside the movement of goods. As capital markets evolve, we want Alteia to be in a position to engage with new forms of institutional liquidity while maintaining the same discipline around how capital is structured and deployed. Our collaboration with Haycen is an important step in preparing for that evolution.”

Kevin Ramsamy, CEO, Alteia Group

Global trade finance is a fundamentally fragmented market across capital, lenders, counterparties, jurisdictions and settlement infrastructure. Haycen is solving for that fragmentation by creating common infrastructure through which institutional capital can move and settle. Alteia is a serious actor in this space, with deep experience in the underlying financing markets, and exactly the kind of institution we want to build alongside as new forms of digital capital enter the market.

Luke Sully, CEO, Haycen

The initial work will focus on the operating model, technical integration and settlement processes required to connect Alteia’s existing investment activities with Haycen’s regulated infrastructure. This will include preparing the operational framework through which digital liquidity could ultimately move between capital allocators, Alteia and its underlying financing activities.

The collaboration reflects a shared view that institutional capital markets are likely to combine traditional financial infrastructure with emerging digital-capital and settlement technologies. Trade finance provides a natural market in which to develop these capabilities, given its international nature, short-duration financing cycles and the repeated movement of capital between investors, lenders and counterparties.

Any future issuance, deployment or settlement of digital assets through the collaboration will be subject to applicable regulatory approvals and requirements and the relevant contractual and transaction requirements.
